BYD has officially launched its most affordable electric hatchback, the Atto 1. It is priced at $12,270, or less than IDR 200 million. The car was launched at the GIIAS (Indonesia International Auto Show) as its debut in Southeast Asia and the starting point for the regional launch.

Exterior
The Atto 1 measures 3,925 x 1,720 x 1,590 mm with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm. Meanwhile, its ground clearance is 155 mm. The car’s body style is more compact with LED headlights, daytime running lights, and rear fog lights. The wheels are 16-inch black.
This BYD is designed to provide ease of urban mobility and focuses on driving and parking. It is available in two attractive color options: green and cream white.
Interior

Integrated leather sports seats, and the second row has three headrests. The driver’s seat can also be electrically adjusted. Furthermore, there’s ample storage space for various items in the front and rear seats.

Features
Safety features available on the BYD Atto 1 include six airbags, including side curtain airbags, front airbags, a seat belt reminder system, and ISOFIX anchor point compatibility. There are also sensors and a camera for rear parking, as well as electric exterior mirrors.
Another feature is cruise control, which allows the driver to maintain a stable speed without having to constantly press the accelerator. This will certainly make the ride more comfortable.
Then there’s Auto Brake Hold and Electric Parking Brake (EPB). Front and rear disc brakes optimize braking power. Using these two features also helps dissipate heat and can even prevent overheating in the braking system.
Furthermore, there are multiple unlocking methods, including keyless entry, a key fob, an NFC digital key, the BYD App, an NFC card, and a Bluetooth key. Other features include air conditioning and music playback with voice commands in Indonesian and English.
Battery and Performance
This car is powered by an electric motor and battery with a power of 55 kW and 135 Nm of torque. This allows it to accelerate from 0-50 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Its top speed is 130 km per hour.
Meanwhile, the Standard Range variant has a 30.08 kWh battery and a range of 300 km. The Long Range variant has a larger battery capacity of 38.88 kWh and a range of 380 km.
This battery is charged using AC charging and supports DC CCS2 fast charging. This allows for faster charging, taking approximately 30 minutes for a 30-80% charge.
BYD Auto 1 is a strong competitor for electric vehicles in the Indonesian market, the largest automotive market in Southeast Asia. Competitive pricing can increase consumer interest in electric cars.
